Travel Document

Generally, Nepali Travel Document (TD) is issued for obtaining visa and to facilitate the holders of the TD unhindered travel in a particular situation within a certain period of time.

The Consulate General of Nepal in Hong Kong wishes to inform all concerned Nepalese nationals living in Hong Kong and Macao that the following procedures are required in order to obtain a Nepalese Travel Document.

New Travel Documents

The Consulate General of Nepal in Hong Kong wishes to inform all concerned Nepalese nationals living in Hong Kong and Macao that there is a practice of issuing a Nepali Travel Document to a child under the age of five years at the Consulate.

Requirements for New Travel Document

A new Travel Document will be rendered within three working days from date of the submission of the application provided all the requirements below are duly completed and fulfilled.

  1. A properly filled up Travel Document Application Form (Download Travel Document Application Form)
  2. Birth Registration Certificate of Child and a copy of the same.
  3. Original Citizenship Certificate of Father and a copy of the same.
  4. Marriage Registration Certificate of the parents and a copy of the same.
  5. Current Passports of the Parents and a copy of the same.
  6. Affix one passport size photograph on the designated place in the application form and enclose one for passport.
  7. A fee of Hong Kong $ 300 (three hundred Hong Kong dollars only) duly paid.
Fast Track Service: Subject to a prior concurrence of the Consul General and fulfillment of all the requirements, one may obtain Travel Document in the same day of submission of application by paying an additional URGENT fee of HK $ 200 (two hundred Hong Kong dollars only). In such cases, the total fee for a Travel Document will be HK$ 500. The Consulate will issue receipt of such urgent fees.

Physical Presence: An applicant is required to come in person during the submission of the application and the collection of the new passport. However, only with a prior concurrence of Consul General, those applicants who are disabled or are mentally retarded or those who can prove their justifiable grounds may be exempted from physical presence.

Definition of Three Working Days: It includes the day an applicant submits application and the day the applicant obtains his Passport. For example: If Mr. A submits his application Monday, he would get back new Passport on the following Wednesday. However, Saturday and Sunday are not counted as working days. In such cases, if Mrs. B submits his application on Friday, she would get new passport on following Tuesday.

Travel Document in lieu of Lost Passport

It is the obligation of the holder of the passport to use one's passport with due diligence and care so that it would not be misused, lost or damaged. If a person traveling abroad for short period of time(other than long term employment, long term study or as permanent resident or other cases as may be decided by the Consul General) losses his/her passport, he/she would be entitled to obtain a Travel Document the Consulate General. Normally, in such cases, Travel Document will be rendered within three working days from date of the submission of the application provided all the requirements below are duly completed and fulfilled.

Requirements for Issuance of TD in Lieu of Lost Passport

  1. A properly filled up Travel Document Application Form (Download Travel Document Application Form)
  2. A letter from the Immigration Department or Police Office of Hong Kong or Macao SAR confirming that the loss of passport was reported by the holder.
  3. A copy of the lost passport, which should be able to specify the Number of the lost passport, date and place of issue, if possible.
  4. Original Citizenship Certificate and a copy of the same, if possible.
  5. Affix one recent photograph on the designated place in the application form and enclose one for Travel Document.
  6. A fee of HK $ 300 (three hundred Hong Kong dollars only) duly paid.
Type of Travel Document: A person of this category, who fulfills above requirements, will get a Travel Document of 1 Month validity.
