Passport
Nepalese Ordinary Passport is issued for a period of 10 years. It is non-renewable; thereafter passport holders are required to apply for a new passport well within time before expiry, but not earlier than six months validity period. However, in case of accidental damage of the passport or use of all the pages meant for visa, one could apply for a new ordinary passport any time.
A Nepali citizen would obtain ordinary Passport from the Consulate General of Nepal provided the applicant is within its consular districts and fulfills the requirements as outlined in the following paragraphs.

New Passport
The application for a new passport has to be submitted in the prescribed form anytime within six months of the expiry of the existing passport. The Consulate General of Nepal in Hong Kong wishes to inform all concerned Nepalese nationals living in Hong Kong and Macao that the following procedures are required in order to obtain a new General Passport.
Requirements for the New Passport
Passport will be rendered within three working days from date of the submission of the application provided all the requirements below are duly completed and fulfilled.
- A properly filled up Passport Application Form (Download Passport Application Form). You can also obtain Application Form from the Consulate General.
- Original Citizenship Certificate and a copy of the same.
- Current Passport and copies of Page 1 and 2
- Birth Certificate for those, who have born in Hong Kong SAR.
- Three passport size photos. The photos should have been taken not more than six months ago.
- A fee of Hong Kong $ 630.00 (six hundred and thirty Hong Kong dollars only) duly paid.
Fast Track Service: Subject to a prior concurrence of the Consul General and fulfillment of all the requirements, one may obtain Passport in the same day of submission of application by paying an additional URGENT fee of HK $ 200.00 (two hundred Hong Kong dollars only). In such cases, the total fee for a passport will be HK$ 830.00. The Consulate will issue receipt of such urgent fees.
Physical Presence: An applicant is required to come in person during the submission of the application and the collection of the new passport. However, only with a prior concurrence of Consul General, those applicants who are disabled or are mentally retarded or those who can prove their justifiable grounds may be exempted from physical presence.
Definition of Three Working Days: It includes the day an applicant submits application and the day applicant obtains his Passport. For example: If Mr. A submits his application Monday, he would get back new Passport on the following Wednesday. However, Saturday and Sunday are not counted as working days. In such cases, if Mrs. B submits her application on Friday, she would get new passport on following Tuesday.
Lost Passport
It is the obligation of the holder of the passport to use one's passport with due diligence and care so that it would not be misused, lost or damaged. Normally, Ordinary Passport is not issued in lieu of current passport, when the validity period of the current passport is more than six months. However, in case of accidental damage of the passport or lost of the passport, one could apply for a new general passport. The Consulate suggests all the Nepalese nationals to report to the local police and ask for an acknowledgment or a counter report as a proof of loss as soon as the passport is lost. The following procedures are required for obtaining a new passport in lieu of lost passport.
Requirements for Lost Passport
- A properly filled up Passport Application Form (Download Passport Application Form)
- A letter from Police Office of Hong Kong or Macao SAR confirming that the loss of passport was reported by the holder.
- A copy of the lost passport, which should be able to specify the Number of the lost passport, date and place of issue.
- Birth Certificate for those, who have born in Hong Kong SAR.
- Original Citizenship Certificate and a copy of the same.
- Three passport size photos. The photos should have been taken not more than six months ago.
- A fee of Hong Kong $ 630.00 (six hundred and thirty Hong Kong dollars only) has to be paid.
- Passport will be rendered within three working days from date of the submission of the application, if the application is complete in all respects and the current passport was issued by the Consulate General of Nepal in Hong Kong. However, an indefinite time may require verifying records to issue a new passport if the lost passport was not issued by the Consulate General.

Passport by Mail
The Consulate General of Nepal encourages all the Nepalese nationals to obtain their passport by their physical presence from the Consulate. However, Nepalese nationals living in Macao SAR may obtain passport by mail if they desired so. The Consulate General of Nepal in Hong Kong wishes to inform all concerned Nepalese nationals living in Macao that the following procedures are required in order to obtain a new General Passport by mail.
Requirements for the New Passport by Mail
- A properly filled up Passport Application Form (Download Passport Application Form).
- Original Citizenship Certificate and a copy of the same.
- Current Passport and copies of Page 1 and 2.
- Three passport size photos. The photos should have been taken not more than six months ago.
- A fee of Hong Kong $ 630.00 (six hundred and thirty Hong Kong dollars only) duly paid.
- A self-addressed envelop with sufficient postage stamps has to be enclosed to return back the documents to the applicant.
- Please make sure that above instructions are fully adhered to before sending your application by mail.
- Incomplete application will not be processed.
- The consulate will not take any responsibility in case of delayed delivery or the loss of passport and other document by post office or other parties.
